Green Point at a glance

The first of the Atlantic Seaboard suburbs is Green Point, situated close to Cape Town CBD and the V and A Waterfront but with a distinct local neighbourhood vibe. From the hustle and bustle of Green Point main road with local favourite, the iconic Giovanni's Deli, the residential streets stretch up to and above High Level road. In these streets one finds a wide variety of homes, from Victorian Villas and terraces packed with original features to ultra-modern apartment blocks and luxurious houses with never ending ocean views above the aptly named Ocean View Drive.

Saturday mornings will often start with the Park Run in Green Point Urban Park which is an absolute haven for dog owners and families with young children, alternatively a leisurely game of golf at the Metropolitan Golf Club is a more sedate option. On the coastal side of the park is Green Point Lighthouse, the oldest operational one in South Africa having first been lit in 1824, it is often mistakenly called Mouille Point lighthouse but that was decommissioned in the 1920s. A visit to Jason's Bakery is a must for brunch and to try one of their famous Doughsants, a different, never to be repeated, flavour is available every Saturday. The Point Virgin Active gym is one of the busiest in the country and has a wide range of outdoor training facilities and tennis courts so you'll never get bored of your work outs. Adding to Green Point's family friendly credentials is the Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard School and for sport and music lovers there's often the chance to catch the big events at Green Point Stadium with the Cape Town Sevens being a firm favourite in the World Rugby Sevens Series.
